Being from Texas, President Bush should understand the cattle industry
fairly well. Even an average Joe on the city sidewalk should have a
similar basic understanding of herding cattle. This mutual
understanding being, "One cannot effectively herd the cattle if the
gate remains open." Unfortunately, President Bush has not applied this
principle to his
Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).
Yesterday, I received a copy of the National Drug Control Strategy for
2007. The Executive Office of the President is fallaciously praising
Leader George W. Bush for his failed policies in securing the border
and fighting the war on drugs. While reading the entire report, I
forced myself to remember that propaganda will never be negative in an
instance where an agency of the government is reporting on itself. The
PDF can be found here (
Link).
It takes 33 pages into the report to find out that drugs come across
our Southwest border. Mexico does not even have an entire page reserved
for their corruption, deceit, war lords, and dependence on the
economics of the USA. As I discovered, the first thing the reported
notes is, "Securing our border is A top priority for the U.S.
government," which is a LIE in itself, and "Across the Southwest Border
in Mexico, drug trafficking and associated violence pose a grave threat
not only to health and safety of the Mexican people, but
TO THE SOVEREIGNTY OF MEXICO ITSELF."
Why are we primarily addressing the heath and safety of Mexicans and
the sovereignty of Mexico when the report should be addressing the
health and safety of Americans and the sovereignty of the United States?
There are many mistakes not addressed in this strategy. For a very few examples,
1)The ONDCP does not monitor the methamphetamine imported to America
2)The ONDCP only monitors students in the 8, 10, and 12 grade (who are
not likely to be honest) on drug abuse when looking at school systems
3) The ONDCP focuses on opium, heroin, and cocaine.
4) The ONDCP targets schools and businesses with enough financial capital to implement a drug testing policy.
5) I could continue for several dozen other listings, but I will stop here.
According to the ONDCP Strategy Report, President Bush wants to address
the demand side of the drug war rather than the supply side. Addressing
the supply side of black market economics would force the United States
to cut off the direct drug route from Central and South America into
the USA across the Southern Border. The national security and
sovereignty of the United States of America is at stake with Mexico.
The questions George W. Bush should be answering is, "Do you plan to
stop the importation of drugs into the United States? If so, do you not
think that it is reasonable as a part of comprehensive immigration
reform to seal the southern border to prevent the drugs from entering
our country?" If not, on either question, then you are not doing your
job. If we simply eliminate the drug supply, I believe drug use will
begin to decrease in the United States.
This report pats President Bush on the back for a job that he considers
done well. Well, President Bush, you are wrong. This report was poorly
written, compiled, and transmitted. In my personal opinion John P.
Walters, Director of the Office National Drug Control Policy, should
resign or be replaced. He is not seriously looking out for the
sovereignty and national security of the United States of America by
leaving the swinging gate to our country open for business. Nor is he
preserving, protecting, nor defending "We the People" against foreign
threats of drug trafficking nor the domestic threats of drug abuse.
In my opinion, President Bush cares nothing of sealing the border. He
continues to talk out of both sides of his mouth when addressing the
War on Drugs and "Comprehensive Immigration Reform." If he wants to
begin effecting real change in the culture of the United States, he
would not propose big government solutions, as in the ONDCP report, but
he would seal the border with Mexico first, a legacy he is not willing
to leave for himself. President Bush, act now to close America's back
gate to keep out the wolves and herd the problems we are currently
facing.
