On April 11, 2007, Citizens Against Government Waste released the 2007
Prime Cuts of the Federal Budget. Prime cuts "arms citizens,
legislators, and the media with a specific, rational, and achievable
menus for downsizing the government." This is the type of weapon the
Conservative Movement needs to wage a war on our large and secretive
federal government. One can find CAGW's Prime Cuts at this website (
http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_primecuts).
Prime
cuts makes 750 recommendations that would save American taxpayers $280
billion a year and over $2 Trillion over the next five years. Prime
Cuts includes examples of agencies, programs, and policies that are
plagued by fraud or negligence, serve political or parochial interests
rather than the general good, do not demonstrate results, duplicate
efforts in the private sector, circumvent procedural checks for
transparency and accountability, or exceed their original mandate.
The
notion of politics as a war is rarely given kind attention, especially
in a city like Washington, DC driven by collectivism, compromise, and
cronyism. But, the truth of the matter is that politics is a war.
Transparency is a weapon for Conservatism, and Prime Cuts might as well
be our AK-47. Easy to use, reliable, and straightforward. So much so,
that a child can use it and understand the importance of the task at
hand. Frivolous overspending is a problem facing the United States of
America, and Citizens Against Government Waste is here with solutions.
